A LITTLE SPACE FOR YOUR HEALTH

Understand this stage of you.

Midlife changes can affect your sleep, energy, weight and sexual wellbeing. If fatigue, hot flushes or vaginal dryness have been on your mind, taking time to discuss your concerns can help you decide which assessments are appropriate for you.

MyGP’s Perimenopausal / Menopause Comprehensive Package is RM988 and is designed for women aged 45 and above. It combines blood and urine screening with eight hormone tests, Vitamin D, selected tumour markers, infection-related tests, abdominal, gynaecological and breast health assessments, an ECG and a liquid-based Pap smear.

The aim is to support a broader conversation about your health. Menopause is usually assessed from your symptoms and menstrual history; a hormone result alone does not give the whole picture. Your clinic will confirm test suitability, preparation, appointment arrangements and how your results will be reviewed.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

Your health, seen as a whole.

Explore the package by area of care. Open each section for the full list.

01Blood, urine & general healthKnow your everyday health indicators.

Blood & urine

  • Full blood count
  • ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate)
  • Urine examination
  • ABO & Rh blood group typing

Blood sugar & cholesterol

  • Fasting glucose
  • HbA1c (longer-term blood sugar indicator)
  • Lipid profile (cholesterol & fats)

Kidney, liver & minerals

  • Kidney function
  • Liver function
  • Uric acid
  • Corrected calcium
  • Phosphate

Other indicators

  • Thyroid function
  • Rheumatoid factor
02Comprehensive hormone panelEight hormone tests, already included.

Your hormone panel

  • FSH — follicle-stimulating hormone
  • LH — luteinising hormone
  • E2 — estradiol (oestrogen)
  • Progesterone
  • PRL — prolactin

Also included

  • Cortisol
  • DHEAS — dehydroepiandrosterone sulphate
  • Testosterone

Hormone levels fluctuate. For most otherwise healthy women aged 45 and over with typical symptoms, menopause is identified clinically without routine hormone testing. Your doctor can advise which tests are useful for your situation.

03Vitamin D testAn included blood test to check your Vitamin D level.

Included

  • Vitamin D blood test

Vitamin D helps your body absorb calcium. This blood test measures Vitamin D levels; it does not measure bone density. Your doctor can advise how the result relates to your health.

04Women’s health assessmentsTime to discuss the changes you have noticed.

Included assessments

  • Abdominal health assessment
  • Gynaecological health assessment
  • Breast health assessment, including breast examination

The clinic will explain the examination methods and confirm what is appropriate for you. Share any discomfort or preferences before your assessment.

05ECG heart assessmentA check of your heart’s electrical activity.

Included

  • ECG (electrocardiogram)

Your result is considered alongside symptoms and medical history. An ECG does not rule out every heart condition.

06Cervical healthLiquid-based Pap smear included.

Included

  • Pap smear — liquid-based cytology (LBC)

This checks cervical cells for changes. Your doctor will consider your previous screening history and whether cervical screening is due.

07Selected tumour markersFive blood markers, interpreted in context.

Included markers

  • AFP
  • CEA
  • CA 19-9
  • CA 15-3
  • CA 125

These markers cannot diagnose or exclude cancer on their own and are not reliable stand-alone cancer screening tests. They do not replace recommended screening such as mammography or cervical screening. Discuss their limitations and suitability with your doctor.

08Infection & immunity-related testsThe listed infection-related blood tests.

Included tests

  • VDRL & TPHA (syphilis-related tests)
  • Hepatitis A & B tests
  • HIV 1/2
  • H. pylori IgG

Ask the clinic which hepatitis tests are included and how to interpret your results. H. pylori IgG may reflect previous exposure and does not by itself confirm an active infection.

DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?

You do not have to keep these questions to yourself.

Designed for women aged 45 and above who would like to discuss midlife changes or review their general health.

  • Fatigue or reduced energy
  • Weight gain or changes in weight
  • Hot flushes or night sweats
  • Poor sleep
  • Vaginal dryness or discomfort
  • Changes in libido or sexual wellbeing

These symptoms can have different causes. A clinical assessment helps decide what needs attention and which tests are appropriate. If you are under 45 with possible menopause symptoms, ask the clinic for an individual assessment.

BEFORE YOUR VISIT

A little preparation. More comfort on the day.

01

Fasting & medicines

Fasting glucose is included. Ask the clinic how long to fast and whether water is allowed. Mention diabetes medicines and other regular medication so the team can give you individual instructions.

02

Pap smear timing

Arrange cervical screening when you are not menstruating. Avoid vaginal creams, medicines and lubricants for 48 hours beforehand unless your clinician advises otherwise; check before changing prescribed treatment.

03

Hormone & cortisol timing

Tell the clinic your last period date and any contraception, hormone therapy or steroid medicines you use. Cycle timing varies by test. Cortisol also varies during the day, so confirm the collection time with the clinic. Do not change prescribed medicines without medical advice.

04

Your comfort matters

Bring previous reports and your medication list. Tell the team about vaginal dryness or any concerns about examinations. You may request a female clinician or chaperone; the clinic will confirm availability.

YOUR RESULTS & NEXT STEPS

Make sense of your results.

  1. Confirm your visit

The clinic checks your preferred branch, test suitability, preparation and appointment availability.

  2. Complete your assessments

The team explains the planned checks and answers questions before proceeding with your consent.

  3. Arrange your results review

Processing times vary by test. Ask when reports will be ready, how review is arranged and whether any follow-up charges apply.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Before you make time for yourself.

Does this package diagnose or treat menopause?

It provides the listed health checks. Menopause is usually assessed from age, symptoms and menstrual history; blood results are only part of the clinical picture. Treatment, including hormone therapy, is a separate discussion with your doctor and is not listed as part of this package.

Do I need to fast?

The package includes fasting glucose. Ask the clinic to confirm the fasting duration, water instructions and how to manage your usual medicines before your visit.

Can I do a Pap smear during my period?

It is best scheduled outside your period. If bleeding begins before your appointment, contact the clinic to discuss which checks can proceed and whether the Pap smear should be rescheduled.

When should the hormone tests be done?

Share your menstrual history and medicines with the clinic. Timing depends on the test and the reason for testing. Cortisol levels vary through the day, so ask about the required collection time. Do not stop contraception, hormone therapy or other prescribed medicines unless your prescriber advises it.

How long will screening take, and when will results be ready?

The time needed depends on the assessments arranged and the clinic’s schedule. Blood tests and cervical cytology may be ready on different dates. Your clinic will confirm the expected visit duration, report timing and review arrangements.

Are the hormone panel, Vitamin D and breast examination extra?

No. The eight listed hormone tests, Vitamin D test and breast examination are included in the RM988 package described here. ECG and LBC Pap smear are also included. Any additional investigation or treatment should be discussed and priced separately before you proceed.

Can I request a female clinician?

Yes, you can share this preference in your enquiry. The clinic will confirm the available clinician and suitable appointment times.

Are tumour markers enough to check for cancer?

No. Normal markers cannot rule out cancer, and raised markers may have non-cancer causes. They do not replace appropriate screening, examination or further investigation when needed.

Is the Vitamin D test a bone density scan?

No. It is a blood test to measure Vitamin D levels. A bone density scan is a different investigation. Ask your doctor whether a separate bone assessment is appropriate for your age, medical history and fracture risk.
